Navigator App to Paper Challenge

This site sets out the terms and conditions between Navigator Paper brand, a property of The Navigator Company and you when you apply to compete in Navigator App to Paper Challenge organized by The Navigator Company.

By applying to compete in Navigator App to Paper Challenge, you agree to comply with and be bound by these terms and conditions. You should read this document carefully. The Navigator Company reserves the right to change these terms and conditions at any time. Any amended terms and conditions will be posted on this website. This updated version of terms and conditions of the NavigatorApp to Paper Challenge is applicable from August 1st, 2017.

 

Sponsor:

The Navigator App to Paper Challenge is sponsored by Navigator Paper brand, a property of The Navigator Company. Employees of The Navigator Company their respective advertising and promotion agencies and their immediate family members and/or those living in the same household of each are not eligible to participate in the Competition.

 

Theme:

The theme of the competition, titled “Navigator App to Paper Challenge,” is to challenge people to submit an app idea that makes mobile apps and office paper work together. We look for app ideas that can promote the use of office paper. The winner will get their app idea developed.

 

Agreement to Rules:

By participating, you agree to be fully unconditionally bound by these Rules, and you represent and warrant that you meet the eligibility requirements set forth herein. Also, you agree to accept the decisions of The Navigator Company, as final and binding as it relates to the content. The Competition is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws.

 

Eligibility:

The Navigator App to Paper Challenge is open only to those who apply at the navigator-app-challenge.com and who are 18 years or older as of the date of entry. The promotion will begin at 00:00 A.M. (GMT) on the 1st of August 2017 and will end at 11:59 P.M. (GMT) on the 8th of October 2017.

 

How to Enter:

The Challenge must be entered by submitting an entry using the online form provided on this Challenge website, navigator-app-challenge.com. The entry must fulfill all Challenge requirements, as specified, to be eligible to win a prize.

  • You may submit more than one idea.
  • You may not enter an app idea that has already been created.
  • All the applications must be in English.

Entries that are not complete or do not adhere to the rules or specifications may be disqualified at the sole discretion of The Navigator Company. Any form of plagiarism or the presentation of intentionally unauthentic ideas and solutions will lead to forfeit. If you use fraudulent methods or otherwise attempt to circumvent the rules your submission may be removed from eligibility at the sole discretion of The Navigator Company.

 

Application Requirements:

Mandatory requirements for valid applications are:

a) Name of the App;
b) An explanation of the app’s concept;
c) An explanation of how the app will comply the challenge’s main goal: to promote the use of office paper.
d)What are the benefits for the app’s users?

 

Non-mandatory requirements:

Technical Requirements:

Identify if the app should be developed for IOS, Android, Windows Phone or other;
Indicate and describe which will be the back office application to manage the app’s content and functionalities.

Indicate if the app needs integrations with other systems and if it does, describe which systems (eg.: Google maps, sms, whatsup, Skype…)
Which device features the app will need (GPS, camera, micro, NFC, and so on..)
Any other special requirements.

 

Additional information that it will be valued by the jury:

The app’s descriptive memory;
The app’s architecture;
The app’s prototype;
App’s Interface layouts.

 

Accepted Applications:

To be accepted, an application must be in total compliance with the application ’s mandatory requirements.

In 48 working hours, the applicant will be notified by email if his application has been accepted or not accepted.

 

Winner selection and notification:

A group of individuals selected by The Navigator Company will read over and judge the applications, deciding on the three winning ideas. All decisions made by this group will be considered final.

Winners will be announced on the 20th of October, 2017.

Winners will be notified via e-mail to the e-mail address they have submitted the idea.

The Navigator Company shall have no liability for a winner’s failure to receive notices due to winners’ spam, junk e-mail or other security settings or for winners’ provision of incorrect or otherwise non-functioning contact information.

The Navigator Company is not responsible for and shall not be liable for late, lost, misdirected, or unsuccessful efforts to notify winners.

If a selected winner cannot be contacted with within four days following the winners announcement, is ineligible, fails to acknowledge status, or fails to comply with any term or condition of these Challenge Conditions, a prize may be forfeited, and an alternate winner may be selected.

Winners agree to transmit all copyright of their proposals to Navigator.

 

Prizes:

The Top 3 (three) ideas selected by the jury will receive the following prize money:

  • 1st place: $ 20,000 USD
  • 2nd place: $ 7,500 USD
  • 3rd place: $ 2,500 USD

The prize is nontransferable. Acceptance of prize constitutes permission for The Navigator Company to use winner’s name, likeness, and entry for purposes of advertising and trade without further compensation unless prohibited by law, as expressly set forth herein (Representations and Warranties).

The promoter is not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied to any entrant by any third party connected with this competition.

The payment of the prize to the winners will be made by bank transfer to the account indicated by each of the winners.

The amounts are subject to the legal taxes in force, on the date of delivery of the prizes, according to applicable tax law, so the value of the prize can be smaller than the announced in the challenge.

The winners must provide an official identification document and sign a receipt of discharge where the contesting entity, the entity that receives the prize and the amount of the prize will be identified.

 

Representations and Warranties:

Winners represent and warrant that App’s concept and Interface layouts do not infringe any copyright, patent, design, trademark, utility model or any other third party rights.

Winners grant to the Sponsor all the rights to register and to use Winners’ intellectual property, if any, without any compensation. This implies the automatic assignment of intellectual property rights (“Rights”) to Sponsor in a final manner and irrevocable.

Winners represent and warrant the Rights are free of all liens and charges and not encumbered by any security or beneficial right.

The Sponsor will be fully entitled to the Rights generating or arising during the course of this challenge/promotion.

 

Evaluation Criteria:

Submissions will be judged and scored on:

Compliance with mandatory requirements: All the mandatory requirements were fulfilled by the applicant. Non-mandatory requirements will be valued.

General Strength of Concept: How your idea integrates the use of technology and digital tools with office paper and make them work together through a mobile app.

User Interface Experience and Overall Feasibility: The jury will be looking at the degree of the app being conveniently done within the established timing.

Benefits for the user: How your app idea will empower the empathy created by paper in people’s lives.

Budget’s Compliance: The app’s development should not exceed $35,000 USD.

 

APP’s Development

The best app idea will be developed.

The App-to-paper Challenge will fund the app’s development up to maximum of $35,000 USD.

After the winner’s announcement, there will be a call for proposals/pitch to find a company to develop the app.

 

Data protection:

Personal data collected during this promotion is limited to the minimum needed to enter the promotion, and in any case, it will be not available to third parties. The Navigator Company agrees to protect the participants’ personal data against accidental or unlawful destruction or accidental loss, alteration, disclosure or unauthorized access, as required by the 67/98 Portuguese Act of October 26, Article 14.

The Navigator Company has appropriate measures in place to ensure that user’s personal details are not misused, accidentally destroyed, lost or altered within this promotion.

The Navigator Company warrants you, under the 67/98 Portuguese Act of October 26, Article 11, the possibility to access, update or remove your personal data at any time. In this regard, it is important to us that you can change/erase your personal information or your e-mail requirements.
